“Be Cool & Follow Bus Rules”
- Be at the bus stop at least five (5) minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time. The bus driver may not see you running for the bus.
- Wait for the bus in a safe place – away from the road but not too far back because the driver may not see you.
- When the bus arrives students should be ready to board with their backpacks on.
- Students that need to cross in front of the bus must pay attention to the bus driver and watch for the signal to cross. If you hear the bus horn, go back to the safe waiting area until the driver signals you that it’s safe to cross.
- Do not run to the bus, wait for the bus to come to you and wait for it to come to a complete stop.
- When you get on the bus go directly to your seat.
- Once you find your assigned seat, put your backpack on your lap.
- Stay seated at all times facing forward, “Back to back” and “Bottom to bottom.” Backpacks and lunch boxes should remain closed at all times.
- Please DO NOT place key chains and attachments on your child’s backpack. They can cause injury to the driver or other students.
- Keep hands, arms and head inside the bus at all times. A bus is much bigger than a car, it gets very close to trees and poles and you could be seriously injured if you have any body parts outside the bus.
- Please don’t chew gum, eat or drink on the bus. Many students have allergies or you could choke and the driver might not be aware of it.
- Hands and feet should be kept to yourself at all times while riding the bus.
- Fighting or bullying is not allowed.
- Never throw things on the bus or out of the windows.
- Keep the aisles clear at all times including your arms and legs.
- Never play with the emergency exits.
- Never write on, cut or damage the seats on the bus. Parents may be held financially liable for the cost of repairing damage to school bus seats.
- Never bring knives, guns, lighters, matches or any other dangerous items on the bus.
- Leave the bus carefully, using the handrail.
- Take 10 giant steps in front of the bus before crossing. You should be able to see the driver’s face. Remember if you can’t see the driver the driver can’t see you.
- Live animals, insects, skateboards, sneaker-skates, glass items, whistles, balloons, and large stuffed animals are not allowed on the bus.
- Anything that may be a distraction to the bus driver is not allowed including trading cards.
- Any students failing to obey these rules will be reported in writing to the school principal for discipline in accordance with the following guidelines.
