History of MSAD #51

Maine School Administration District #51 (MSAD #51) has been proudly serving the Cumberland & North Yarmouth communities since it was formed in 1966. Serving over 2,200 students in grades PreK-12, the district is widely regarded as a leader in academics, athletics, and the arts both in Maine and New England. Greely High School is one of only three in Maine to offer the International Baccalaureate program in its program of studies.

The mission of MSAD #51 is to guide all students as they acquire enthusiasm for learning, assume responsibility for their education, achieve academic excellence, and discover and attain their personal best.  Inspired by the heroes of World War II, the Greely Institute (now Greely High School) chose the Ranger as its mascot in 1949.  From that point forward, in whatever we do, may we always remember the Ranger motto: “Rangers Lead the Way.”
