Timeline of Events for Incoming Kindergarten Families for 2026-2027

January 12th - January 23rd - Registration materials can be found on our Mabel I Wilson School Site
May 13th - Incoming K Spring Screening will take place in the MIW gym. These will be 60-75 minute appointments. Please bring your child and any questions you may have. The time for your child’s screening will be emailed to you along with additional information. Kindergarten screening will be in two parts, with the second part held during the first two days of school for grades 1-9 in August/September (dates subject to school board approval of school calendar in the spring).
August - In the beginning of August, we will send you an email informing you who your child’s classroom teacher will be. We will also include information about kindergarten orientation and your child’s second screening appointment in September (see below).
August 24th (Tentative) – K Orientation & Bus Ride (part of the morning)
September 2nd & 3rd (Tentative) - Fall K screening will be held at MIW (Kindergarten starts 2 days after grades 1-12). The fall screening gives the teacher and child the opportunity for some 1:1 time as well as provides the teacher with current academic information. Your child will have an appointment for 30 minutes.
September 8th (Tentative) - First day of Kindergarten!
