The program awards skaters that commit to training time, participating in club events (exhibitions, ice shows, etc.) and U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned tests and competitions, and Junior Coach/Coach in a Learn to Skate program. Many of the skaters not only train throughout the year for skating but also participate in other sports and academic pursuits within their high schools as well as participate in community service projects. Because many schools in Maine do not recognize figure skating as a varsity sport, North Atlantic Figure Skating Club has created this program in hopes of providing that recognition for its skaters.
