From the Superintendent


District Strategic Priority #1 is Wellness: Foundation for Teaching and Learning, with a focus on ensuring that all students have a solid foundation of support in order to be truly 'well.' We know that in order to help students connect with academics, we must foster a culture of social/emotional learning (SEL). Each school and department has a Site Improvement Plan (SIP) connected to the district priorities, and this year's common thread of SEL highlights belonging and connection as critical components of a healthy and 'well' school community. 
This can be best achieved when schools plan programming that builds upon unity and wholeness rather than dwelling on division and factions. This year, SIPs include re-prioritizing inclusive activities and programs such as all-school assemblies at MIW and GMS 4-5, Rippleffect at GMS 6-8, and Camp Kiev's upcoming work at GHS, among many others. Our schools are working hard after two years of pandemic conditions to find ways that emphasize our similarities while de-emphasizing those things that can easily divide us when we lose our way. SEL helps keep us focused on connecting all students to school by positively supporting healthy and empathetic relationships with others so that we can move beyond the 'us vs. them' pitfalls that too often have come to define modern society. 
Though each of us can easily dwell on all the ways to which the school community as a whole has managed to marginalize us, we are best served when we reach beyond this mindset and can see the forest through the trees. This is the true sign of a 'well' school community.

MSAD #51 Board of Directors Information

Effective August 22, unless otherwise noted, all meetings will take place at 6:00 pm in the Gyger Room at Greely High School.  For those of you unfamiliar with that room, the Gyger Room is where the Board met pre-COVID and can be accessed from the GHS parking lot (the side without the electronic sign).

Greely PTO News

The Grand Event is Back!

The Greely PTO is thrilled to announce the return of The Grand Event on Wednesday, October 19th at Mabel I. Wilson from 4:30-6:30pm! Pre-K – 3rd graders are encouraged to invite Grandparents or Grand Friends to tour their school and grab a passport at the door to make a souvenir, take a picture and create memories together! Parents, your ticket into the event is through volunteer opportunities. Sign up here to help with the event. No food or drink will be served at this event. The flyer is attached or can be found here

Give to Greely PTO's Parent Power Appeal

The Greely PTO Parent Power Appeal is our biggest and most important fundraiser! It is a quick and easy way to make a one-time contribution that works for your family. In 2021, we raised over $13,000 thanks to the generosity of MIW and GMS families! 100% of your tax-deductible donation helps provide K-8 teacher’s enrichment opportunities (such as classroom supplies, playground equipment, guest speakers, field trips, special events and more) for their students that help expand our kids' learning far beyond their classroom walls. No amount is too small. If you would like something included in our weekly newsletter, please send a brief write up with title along with a JPEG or PNG image of your flyer (if applicable) to Fran Prentice for approval. The deadline each week is Sunday. Any requests received after Sunday will be reviewed for possible submission in the following week's newsletter. All approved submissions will be posted on the district's website.
