Updated MSAD #51 COVID Procedures

Dear MSAD #51 School Community,

I hope that the new year has started smoothly for you and your family. I am writing to provide an update as to changes the district is making to its COVID protocols.

Our schools are currently experiencing increases in COVID cases involving students and staff. Since December 23, there have been 103 cases reported, though many potential quarantines were avoided due to the vacation time frame. Even though student attendance has averaged 92-94% at all schools this week so far, it is likely that increases in COVID cases will continue for several weeks as Omicron moves through the state.

In order to reduce disruptions to the educational program caused by the current pandemic conditions, we are making a number of preemptive adjustments to our COVID procedures. Many of these adjustments are aligned with recently updated guidelines set by the Maine Department of Education and Maine CDC.
