Skyline Farm's Museum Exhibit 'Portland's Horse-Drawn Heritage'

Come visit Skyline Farm Carriage Museum, 95 The Lane, North Yarmouth, to view its winter exhibit. ‘Portland’s Horse-Drawn Heritage’ celebratesPortland's era of the horse, with a focus on the West End area of town. The exhibit showcases the fanciest of antique carriages and sleighs to essential utilitarian service vehicles.

 

With Greater Portland Landmarks’ help, dozens of photographs of existing re-purposedWest End carriage houses will be on display. The plight of endangered equestrian Portland Golden Age landmarks will also be highlighted. These include carriage mounting blocks, water troughs, and hitching posts located about the city.

 

The museum will be open to the public on Sundays from 1-4 p.m., Jan. 31 through March 27, or by appointment. Admission is free, donations are appreciated.
