  • Grs. 4-8 Rippleffect Leadership Workshop Please register with Cumberland's Community Recreation Department or call 829-2208.Registration Required.Grades 4-8These workshops will focus on building community and leadership for youth participants in the context of wilderness survival skills.  Weather-permitting, both workshops will take place outside so participants should come prepared!  The first workshop will set the tone and build energy through several ice breakers, name games, and team initiatives. North Yarmouth Historical Society presents Maine Lighthouses: Sights, Sounds, AND Tastes! A family-friendly program with author-educator Gordon Corbett. Gordon will tell stories of his grandfather Willie, Maine lighthouse keeper and subject of Gordon's recent book, Keeper  of the Light.  A lightkeeper's job involved the whole family, was full of adventures and challenges, and was fun too--it included good food and music!In that spirit, we will offer tasty snacks by a new local business, SeaFare--Seaweed for Healthy Living, as well as other mid-afternoon goodies, too. Finally, local musician Ryan Morrison will play Willie Corbett's fiddle for us. Donations are welcome. A short NYHS annual meeting will precede the program. Casco Bay Create Awareness Now

Casco Bay Create Awareness Now (CAN) Coalition is a group of local individuals, schools, law enforcement agencies, organizations, and businesses who work together to prevent and reduce youth substance abuse in Cumberland, Falmouth, Freeport, North Yarmouth, Pownal and Yarmouth. Members work to reinforce the positive messages adults can give about avoiding alcohol, marijuana and other drugs to youth.

Foundation 51 was created in 1998 by residents of Cumberland and North Yarmouth, Maine, for the purpose of directing private charitable resources toward the enrichment of educational opportunities for students in MSAD 51.
